SOS calls for help from the public

Postby Tas terror » Wed Oct 02, 2013 3:28 pm

Last night in the worst possible weather conditions an sos was put out by a person stuck in a NO GO area, Private Forest Lease off a main 4x4 track.
Now the story goes that He went in to help a Mate who was stuck and the guy disappeared as soon as he was rescued, Reason not given. The rescuer became badly stuck himself trying to get back out.
After a 3 vehicle squad went to help, and 7 hours later the situation was resolved and all came out unhurt with no damage.
Now this area known as Pig Pen and the Loop Track (off Jeffries Track) is a very hard place at anytime, but insanity in the wet. (Yes we are all guilty of sneaking in there)
There is now a raging argument going on here ( on Facebook) ,as to whether they should, have been left there overnight, in the 1st place.
Only 3 weeks ago, 3 4x4s had to be pulled out of there.
Now the Local 4WD Club in that area are sick and tired of being called in to help.

I guess if it is a No Go Area then even the local 4wd Club going in doing a rescue shouldn't be in there either, so yep , No Go and let who ever is in charge of the area know that someone is stuck in there and let them get stuck veh out, probably at their expense. People will soon learn no to go there
Cheers Al

i have to raise a concern here - if the area is no-go and indeed whether the 4wd club should have been there, as much as I for one praise their action, they might find their insurance is void for the duration both as a club and as individuals
