Managed to get a bit more done on the van

Bed

No bed

Hmmmm staples

The idea is to build the bed up to fit these underneath for a more easy accessible storage area.

With the bed frame removed it was time to find out how bad the rot was.

Looks worse then I hoped with some of the framework rotten too

Image

Now that has to be good. It seems something has staked the rear of the van at sometime. the bog seems to have done the trick and it does not appear to be the source of the rot.

Image

That seems to be about it. Except the frame right in the corner on the end of the side wall. See what happens there and what can be done to fix it. Also a bit of rot on the floor right in the corner. Made have to do some work from underneath to help seal it all.

Haven't update this for a little while. Managed to remove the rotten timber back to solid timber. Cleaned up the rest as best I could without pulling the van apart.

Since removing the rot, I haven't done much to it. Keep looking at it working out how is going to be the best way to attack it and in the meantime waiting for the back to ease off and drop the pain levels so I once again bend over on the floor for extended periods while doing the work but time is running out and I need to make a start fixing this.

Went to town today and bought so more 1" x 2" baton or the metric version of that size anyhow and did a bit of a rough set out with the old bed frame to have a better idea of what is need to be done and what it will look like.

Tubs in place and old bed frame sat over the top to give an idea of what is what and what will be needed to be done. Due to the angle at the back of the van, head of the bed the new frame will have to be a bit longer and supports longer.
