Now that I am not working and have a bit of free time, so to say, I had a go at removing the radiator today. Just so I remember what I did will record it here for next time I think I want to try it again

First thing, with no shed was to prepare a work area.

Having no real idea of order or exactly how to go about it I decided to drain the radiator next. A drain plug would have been nice but it was a case of pull the hose off and try not to get too wet.

The reason the headlights have to come out is to get the 'top' bolts out which are about a third from the top down the sides. thankfully I had this set of sockets so I could get onto the nuts. Also need a pair of multi grips to hold the bolt on the inside as well.

Top hose off to let the system drain

Next remove the batteries and trays to get to the bottom bolts

Was getting a bit late so had a break for lunch and pain killers for the body. During the break was talking to Kenny who told me about the two hoses at the bottom of the radiator for the transmission fluid and advised me to get something to block the hoses off with.

Still managed to make a mess and ATF bleed everywhere.

We have progress. From my research others have taken of the fan to remove the fan and the shroud which would have given more room to play with but Icould tell the fan was going to be a right unfriendly job so persevered with the shroud sitting back over the fan.

After a bit of verbalising the problem of the radiator getting stuck between the bottom mounting bracket and trying to firstly to remove the passenger's side bracket with the hoses for the ATF cooler in the road I found the driver's side a lot easier to remove. And hey presto it's out.

Off to Natrad in the morning where they can do their testing and see just what is wrong with it and hopefully fix it for me without much drama. Then the fun job of reversing the process to put it all back together. Might see if I can tidy up some of the wiring back to the batteries as well. What a mess they are.

All I did was take it out. Someone else must have had a go at it before I got it.
